The NBA’s hot stove is catching fire early this offseason. As rumors swirl before Thursday’s NBA Draft, Jayson Tatum called for an overhaul to the journalism industry.
On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics star expressed displeasure over reporters using anonymous sources.
“Anybody else tired of seeing ‘per source’ after every quote? Put a name on it orrrrr keep that s— to ya self,” Tatum wrote on Twitter.

Tatum could be responding to reports of his Celtics working toward acquiring Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards. Adrian Wojnarowski began his tweet by attributing his scoop to “ESPN Sources,” and Shams Charania wrote “sources tell” at the end of his post.
It must be frustrating for Tatum — or any player — to see information leaked about his team’s inner workings. But naming a source is a surefire way for an insider to lose sources.
While we don’t know where Woj or Shams got their intel, both said Boston could send Malcolm Brogdon to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-team deal that’d bring Porzingis to the Celtics. The 7-foot-3 star would give the Celtics another top-flight scorer after averaging a career-high 23.2 points per game last season.
