Base variant prices of Jeep Compass and Meridian have been slashed – Both SUVs updated to meet BS6 Phase 2 norms
Currently produced at Ranjangaon facility, both Jeep Compass and Meridian are aimed at premium segments. These are even exported to several global markets. To boost its appeal in India and establish a much stronger portfolio, Jeep has made price revisions for April 2023.
This price update comes bundled with RDE norms compliance which necessitates OBD-II diagnostics tools for real-time monitoring of emissions. With the entry-level trims, Jeep has actually slashed the prices by up to Rs. 2.35 lakh. This should help draw a lot more footfall into the dealerships.
Jeep Compass and Meridian Prices Slashed
Speaking of Meridian’s entry-level Limited MT variant, it is now priced at Rs. 27.75 lakh, which is Rs. 2.35 lakh cut on its ex-sh price. In comparison, the earlier price was Rs. 30.10 lakh, which is a 7.81% reduction.
Limited AT variant price is carried over, which is Rs. 32 lakh. Limited (O) trim level gets a flat Rs. 35,000 increment, carried over to all of its variants. In effect, MT variant costs Rs. 32.95 lakh, AT costs Rs. 34.85 lakh and AT 4WD variant of Limited (O) trim costs 37.50 lakh. Percentage increment is an average of around 1% of older prices.
With Compass, base Sport AT petrol variant now costs Rs. 20.99 lakh, a whole Rs. 1.08 lakh lesser as opposed to Rs. 22.07 lakh. This accounts for a price reduction of 4.89%. Limited AT petrol and Model S AT petrol prices are carried over as they were at Rs. 26.09 lakh and 28.29 lakh respectively.
Compass diesel variants across the trim levels get a flat Rs. 35,000 price hike. Even with 4X4 variants offered with Limited and Model S trim levels also get the same Rs. 35,000 price hike. Prices for diesel variants of Compass now start from Rs. 21.44 lakh for Sport MT and goes till Rs. 31.64 lakh for Model S 4X4 AT.
Engine options remain same as before
Jeep Compass and Meridian share diesel powertrains. Compass buyers get to choose between a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine options. The former makes 161 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque, while the latter makes 168 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. Meridian buyers only get the sole diesel choice.
Speaking of transmissions, Compass petrol variants only get a 7-speed DCT in 4X2 configuration. Diesel variants get either a 6-speed MT or a 9-speed TC. But only the 9-speed TC variants get a 4X4 layout option. Just like Compass diesel, Meridian buyers can choose between a 6-speed MT and a 9-speed TC, and only the latter gets 4X4.
