Jennifer Aniston has opened up about the strong emotions she felt during the filming of Friends: The Reunion which saw her “walk out” on her co-stars on numerous occasions.

The 52-year-old Hollywood star said that she found the experience difficult to process as memories of the previous times she was with her cast mates came back to her, bringing feelings she was not prepared to process at the time.

A replica of the set used for the popular 90s sitcom was built as Jennifer joined Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer for the HBO Max special.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer said that she was transported back to being Rachel Green again but that wasn’t a place she was prepared to go to for various reasons as thoughts of the past came flooding back.

The actress said: “You get there and it’s like, ‘Oh right, I hadn’t thought about what was going on the last time I was actually here.'”

Jennifer added: “And it just took me by surprise because it was like, ‘Hi, past, remember me? Remember how that sucked? You thought everything was in front of you and life was going to be just gorgeous and then you went through maybe the hardest time in your life?'”

The Hollywood star said that she found the experience “all very jarring” and that she took breaks during filming so that she could walk off set.

The Morning Show star continued: “Of course, you’ve got cameras everywhere and I’m already a little emotionally accessible, I guess you could say, so I had to walk out at certain points. I don’t know how they cut around it. Time travel is hard.”

Jennifer reckons that her emotions were stirred by “more personal stuff that [she] had expectations about that sort of shape-shifted, so to speak.”

She added: “That was what was jarring, that we all had an idea of what the future was going to be and we were going to go hunker down and focus on this or that and then it all just changed overnight, and that was it.

“But again, everything’s a blessing if you’re able to look at life’s ups and downs in that way. And if it all hadn’t happened, I would not be sitting here the woman that I am.”
