Jennifer Coolidge ‘would love’ to make Legally Blonde 3

As we enter the fifth year of talks about a potential third Legally Blonde movie, we can at least be assured that, should such a film be made, Jennifer Coolidge will be in it. Thank goodness.

The American Pie star, who has gotten a wave of much-deserved praise after her recent turns on The White Lotus, played scene-stealing manicurist Paulette in the first two Elle Woods adventures and says she’s in for another. “Of course I would be on board,” Jennifer told Extra. “I’ve been hearing about it for a long time… Maybe it is really is happening at this point. I would love to do it. I would absolutely love to do Legally Blonde 3.”

Reese Witherspoon, who starred as Elle Woods and is set to reprise her role and executive-produce the three-quel if it ever happens, is also set on more Paulette. “There is no Legally Blonde 3 without Jennifer Coolidge,” she told Entertainment Tonight, adding that she couldn’t be happier for her co-star’s recent success.

“I’m beyond myself about Jennifer Coolidge,” she said. “She deserves every one of those flowers she is receiving right now. And she’s just one of those people who is so naturally gifted and funny and that you can just tell people love her, ’cause she gets up there and everybody’s like, ‘I love her,’ but she’s just done a lot of good work in our business for so long, that it’s really nice to see her getting this incredible moment.”

Jennifer brought her character Paulette back most recently in the video for Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next, which saw the pop star take on characters from classic “chick flicks” including Legally Blonde. Jennifer credits Ariana with helping her kick-start this phase of her career. “I was kind of flatlining, and you got things going for me. I just want to thank you,” she told Ariana in 2022.

She’s even getting honoured by the Ivy League. Though it was Reese’s character who attended Harvard Law School, it was Jennifer Coolidge who was honoured at the IRL Harvard. In fact, she’s the Hasty Pudding Theatricals’ Woman of the Year! “I was a hostess at a restaurant here in Cambridge for a long time when I was in my teens,” she told the club while being honoured, per Extra. “I think I was, like, 18 or whatever. To be walking by, you know… all these great Harvard buildings and knowing that my dad went here… there was some times when I felt like, you know, it wasn’t going to go very well…”

She continued, “My feelings as a young person and being extremely hopeful and having giant dreams and having very, very low moments too and then to be here tonight… It was all worth it, it was all worth it.” I am not crying. You are crying. You are.
