Super Bowl: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira dance together in 2020

Jennifer Lopez slammed her and Shakira ‘s Super Bowl Halftime Show as the ‘worst idea in the world’.

The singer and actress shared the stage with the Colombian star in 2020, and the pair delighted millions of viewers around the world as they performed a medley of their hits, including Hips Don’t Lie and Jenny From The Block.

However, Jennifer was furious over the decision by NFL bosses to have her share the coveted gig with Shakira, and in a new Netflix documentary Halftime, she shared her frustrations over only having to share the limelight.

During one scene in rehearsals, Jennifer can be seen trying to plan out the performance with music director Kim Burse, and fires off scathing criticism of NFL bosses, showing her anger over having her performance time halved.

“We have to have our singing moments. It’s not going to be a dance f***ing revue. We have to sing our message,” she insisted.

“This is the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl. It was the worst idea in the world,” she fumed.

Later, Shakira expresses her concern over the timings of their set, and notes that halftime show organisers want them to “weave” their hits together.

“If it was going to be a double-headliner, they should have given us 20 minutes. That’s what they should’ve f***ing done,” Jennifer replies.

The star’s manager Benny Medina also voiced her frustrations over the decision for Jennifer and Shakira to share the stage, and said it would negatively impact both performers.

“Typically, you have one headliner at a Super Bowl. That headliner constructs a show and, should they choose to have other guests, that’s their choice,” he said, calling it “an insult”.

“It was an insult to say you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist historically has done,” Benny added.

Halftime is available to stream on 14 June on Netflix.
