Jennifer Lopez is leaning into the Y2K renaissance big time. The star just teased a new album with a throwback reference to her 2002 album This is Me … Then, recreating the classic album cover before announcing its sequel, aptly titled This is Me … Now. She even poses as her 2002 self, album cover outfit and all, before transforming into today’s version of J.Lo in a corset top and black leather jacket. In keeping with the ’00s throwbacks, Lopez just shared a new look that perfectly blends elements of her 2002 self and the J.Lo we know and love in 2022.
Lopez is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album that gave us “Jenny from the Block” in a new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and talking about the 2022 update, which even features a song called “Dear Ben Pt. II,” an ode to her now-husband. In a promo video shared by the artist, she looks as though she stepped right off the set of a 2002 J. Lo music video but also manages to look totally current — no surprise coming from the eternally gorgeous Lopez, of course.
The star wears her hair in a classic Lopez look: a sleek caramel blonde ponytail gathered at the crown of her head, parted in the middle and serving up inches of length. When paired with a shimmery copper and gold eye, bronze contoured cheeks, glossy peach lips, and her signature J.Lo glow, the interview look is both a throwback to her younger self and a tribute to the modern icon she is today. A pair of oversized hoop earrings, a pale yellow manicure, and a denim jacket with a blue Mongolian lamb collar layered over a blue mesh shirt give off the ’00s vibes but keep it fresh.
