Jessica Andrade didn’t mince words in a message to Carla Esparza following the latter’s lackluster title win at UFC 274
Jessica Andrade decided to send some brutal honesty and then some to new UFC women’s strawweight champion Carla Esparza.
Esparza took on Rose Namajunas in the co-main event of UFC 274 with Namajunas’s strawweight title on the line. The fight will end up going down as one of the most infamous and worst combated in the history of MMA, let alone the UFC.
Ultimately, though, Esparza took the championship on a split decision. While there was barely anything done in the first two rounds, Esparza provided the most notable actions with her takedown attempts, which perhaps did enough to earn her the win.
The fight was widely panned and criticized by fans, pundits and fellow fighters alike.
Jessica Andrade gives violent callout to ‘queen of boredom’ Carla Esparza following her title win at UFC 274
Another former strawweight champion, Andrade, had perhaps one of the most vicious assessments of the bout, sending her thoughts in a callout to the new champion on Twitter.
“I want to say that your fight yesterday was the worst in strawweight history, champion of boredom,” Andrade tweeted. “I can’t wait to rip your head off. Congratulations on the boredom belt, but fans of this sport want to see a massacre.”
Andrade recently returned to strawweight after a brief stint at flyweight, quickly submitting Amanda Lemos in the main event of UFC Vegas 52 just a couple of weeks ago.
Andrade won the strawweight title with a slam KO of Namajunas at UFC 237, but she lost the belt in her first defense a few months later to Weili Zhang.
Esparza’s title win now makes her a two-time UFC strawweight champion. She was the division’s inaugural champion, earning that honor through season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter, where she submitted Namajunas in the finale.
