“As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise … people’s comments and judgments can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging ‘You will never be good enough,’” she says in a new Instagram video.

Simpson, 42, sparked fans’ concern after she posted an ad for Pottery Barn in which she appeared to slur some of her speech as she showed off her daughter Birdie’s bedroom.
“I was really drawn to the geometric prints and the colour scheme,” the I Wanna Love You Forever hitmaker said, with a slight stammer, in a clip posted to her Instagram. “This really, to me, is Birdie’s personality.”

Cracking a strange smile, Simpson concluded the short video saying, “Thank you everyone for checking out the adorable room of Birdie Mae Johnson.”
The comments section of Simpson’s post was filled with messages from fans worried about her health. “WTF happened to her face. She can barely speak. Shame,” one follower wrote.
“Why does she talk like that now,” another wondered. “It’s just strange, it’s in every video of her talking. Like she is trying really hard to get the words right.”
“Something is wrong here,” a third concerned fan penned with a fourth echoing that sentiment. “Please tell me I’m not the only one that hears her voice being totally slow…is she OK?!?!”

But in her lengthy response to the negative comments, the mother-of-three revealed that she has been sober for five years. “I feel compassion for the opinionated hate that some people can so effortlessly just blurt out with such intensity on social media or in the media in general,” she continued. “We all have our days of wanting to be, look, do, and feel better. Nobody is alone with that feelin’ that I can promise you.”
Simpson said she’s feeling “angry” and “defensive” over all the brouhaha the ad caused, but added that she is leaning on her positive outlook on life.
“I am present. I am deeply inspired. I am determined. I am honest. I care about other people,” she said. “I know what works for me and that is to let go and simply sing while looking directly inside the mirror, straight in my eyes to really see and understand myself. I can connect with my heartbeat. I am stable and strong. I am home.”
She concluded her message by telling her fans to “live inside your dreams.”
“Don’t give up on yourself because someone else did. Stay true to YOU.”
