Jim Henson’s Dinosaurs Getting New Action Figures from NECA

Remember Dinosaurs? They’re back… in NECA form. Originally airing on ABC from 1991 to 1994, Dinosaurs is one of those classic TV shows that you really just had to be there for. At one point, the show was a dominant force in pop culture, and people everywhere were frequently quoting the baby’s famous phrase, “Not the mama!” Now, it’s been announced by NECA that all-new, highly-detailed action figures based on Dinosaurs are on the way, and they look to be must-have for fans of the show.

You can see several images of the new figures in the Instagram post below.

The figures can be pre-ordered now at certain retailers, and according to listings, they’ll start shipping in November 2023. There are two figures that have been unveiled, and it’s not yet clear if other members of the family will be coming in the future. Perhaps that has to do with how well these two figures sell. In any case, the figures include a Dinosaurs Ultimate Edition Earl Sinclair 7-inch figure, as well as the Dinosaurs Ultimate Baby Sinclair 7-inch figure (actual measurement is 4 inches). Each, of course, come with plenty of accessories, and Baby Sinclair can be removed from his high chair.

An official description for the Earl figures states, “This 7-inch scale Earl Sinclair action figure is fully articulated (including tail) and packed with accessories: includes TV remote, beverage cans, captain’s hat, Fernhill mug, interchangeable head and hands, and more! Collector-friendly window box packaging with opening front flap.”

Meanwhile, the description for the Baby Sinclair figure reads, “This fully articulated Baby Sinclair action figure is absolutely packed with accessories: includes highchair, bowl, spoon, baby bottle, golden horn, TV remote, baseball bat, caveman cookie, frying pan, cookie creature, stuffed dinosaur toys, slingshot, George the Hippo, and interchangeable head and hands.”

Of course, for the collectors out there, the figures come in collector-friendly window box packaging with an opening front flap for display purposes.

The Dinosaurs Have Previously Been Funko’d

Cult Classic Dinosaurs TV Show Is Getting Funko Pop! Toys

While the NECA figures will be the first action figures for Dinosaurs in three decades, the characters from the show were previously given the Funko Pop treatment. Each member of the family was given a special Funko Pop, and while they’re unique collectibles in their own way, some fans might prefer the more detailed figures offered by NECA, as those are the ones who look exactly as they did on the TV show.

Per the logline of the TV show, in Dinosaurs: “Meet the Sinclairs – the funniest family in 60 million years! They’re just your average family with one BIG difference. They’re dinosaurs living the good life in sixty million and three B.C. Daddy Earl, his wife Fran, their kids Robbie, Charlene, and the Baby, and feisty Grandma Ethyl bring a hilarious Jurassic twist to daily life.”

If you want to revisit Dinosaurs, you can currently find the series streaming on Disney+. You can see more about the action figures at NECAOnline.com.
