Jo O’Meara is back to doing what she loves after a tough time with her health over recent months.

The S Club 7 star, 43, spent time in hospital for a back injury, and required surgery to have part of a disc removed.

Jo – who rose to fame with the pop group in 1999 – previously recalled feeling like she’d been shot after waking up in agony in November, explaining that her whole body ‘went into shock.’

At the time, she worried that she’d never perform again, with surgeons telling her there was a very good chance of permanent damage to her legs, and that she might never dance again.

However, much to Jo’s delight, she’s returning to the stage next month for her first gig since her operation.

Sharing the announcement with her fans, the Bring It All Back hitmaker beamed in a video on Instagram.

‘Just hopping on very quickly to let you know that I am back!’, she exclaimed.

‘I’m going back on stage for my very first show in a long time after all these operations and stuff.’

She added: ‘I am so so excited, back with a band, back doing what I love the most, and I cant wait to see you all.’

Jo added in her caption that the past few months had been ‘traumatic’ for her, so getting back to performing is ‘just what’s needed.’

‘It’s time to dust the cobwebs,’ she said, confirming her appearance at Pizza Express in Holborn, which is one of her ‘favourite venues’ to sing in.

The singer will treat fans to an acoustic show, which she is ‘working hard’ to make the ‘best one yet’.

Tickets are available now for the show on February 19.

Fans were keen to offer their support for the star, with one commenting on her post: ‘I’m so happy for you Jo! You will rock it! ????❤️????’

‘Amazing, proud of you xxx’, wrote another.

Jo has been open about her history of back problems, as she was forced to pull out of a number of events during the height of S Club’s fame.

Despite recognising the feeling, though, she described her recent injury as ‘ten times worse than what I’ve had before.’

‘Back surgery is so complex and every time they go in, they’re just weakening my back. I was absolutely petrified,’ she previously told The Sun.

Jo believes her anguish began during a health kick last year where she was trampolining every day, which she thinks led to the four bulging discs in her spine which then starting rubbing against her sciatic nerve.
