Joe Exotic’s battle with an ‘aggressive cancer’ continues, with the Tiger King star said to have been transferred to a medical centre during his incarceration to help him cope with his condition.

TMZ report that Exotic, 58 – who is now in prison after being sentenced to 22 years for trying to hire two different men to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin – was transferred on Tuesday.

According to federal prison officials, Exotic – whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage – was moved from FMC Fort Worth, TX to FMC Butner in North Carolina.

On the website for FMC Butner, it states that the medical centre provides ‘extensive medical services’ with a hospital and cancer treatment facilities available.

It’s currently unclear what type of cancer treatments he’ll receive at the centre.

Exotic’s cancer was diagnosed after he had a biopsy performed on his prostate.

In summer, he confessed he was ‘ready to die’ after believing the cancer had spread to his pelvis and to his stomach.

His move to a medical centre comes in the same week as Tiger King 2’s release.

Exotic became a household name following the success of the Emmy-nominated Netflix docu-series Tiger King last year.

While he was the main star of the 2020 release, the TV personality appears from behind bars in the new season, and he’s said that he’s desperate to be released.

As he continues to fight for freedom, Tiger King 2 exposes newfound revelations on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America’s most notorious big cat owners.

Advocate Baskin recently revealed she will be watching the new series, despite her long-time feud with Exotic, as she wants to know what is said about her.

Baskin, who has been embroiled in a legal battle trying to sue Netflix and prevent them from using footage of her, told E! News: ‘I have to tune in because there were so many lies that were told about me so effectively in Tiger King, that I know I’m going to be called to defend myself again on Tiger King 2. So I have to know what was said.’

Reps for Joe Exotic have been contacted for comment.

Tiger King 2 streams now on Netflix.
