Joel Glazer has pictures of four legends on his wall as Man Utd saga goes on

This summer could be the last under the Glazers at Manchester United. Joel, along with his other siblings, are open to selling the club amid interest from Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. And if a deal is brokered that sees the family sell their shares and leave for good, then it’s possible their Washington base will then get a redecoration…

Last year, The Athletic revealed Glazer had pictures of four Manchester United legends on his wall at his base in the United States.

One snap is of former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer celebrating his famous goal against Barcelona in the 1999 Champions League final.

Glazer is also said to have a picture of Ryan Giggs whipping his shirt off after netting against Arsenal that same year.

And he also has images of Cristiano Ronaldo and George Best, too.

Fast-forward to now and, if the Glazers do sell up, then it’s possible Joel will call in the decorators.

The family confirmed they were open to selling the club all the way back in November, saying in a statement: “The strength of Manchester United rests on the passion and loyalty of our global community of 1.1 billion fans and followers.

“As we seek to continue building on the Club’s history of success, the Board has authorised a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives.

“We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximises the significant growth opportunities available to the Club today and in the future.

“Throughout this process we will remain fully focused on serving the best interests of our fans, shareholders, and various stakeholders.”

Sheikh Jassim has bid five times for the club and is currently viewed as the frontrunner in the race.

And United want more reinforcements to follow, too.

They’re pressing ahead with plans to sign Andre Onana, especially with David De Gea’s long-term future up in the air.

And United are also hoping to land a new striker with Rasmus Hojlund seemingly their top target.

Whether the Glazers do finally end up leaving, after 18 controversial years, remains to be seen.

But, for now, everybody is in the dark.

Speaking recently, meanwhile, Gabriel Agbonlahor expressed a belief the Glazers would face a big backlash if they opted to stay at United.

“I do feel sorry for Man United, I feel their pain,” he told Football Insider. “I do mock them sometimes about wanting the Glazers out, but when you hear about what’s going on behind the scenes – the fans must be pulling their hair out.

“It’s time for the Glazers to go back to America, let new owners come in and help them compete again.

“Man United aren’t far away. They’re three or four players away from competing for a league title.

“If the Glazers stay in, then you can’t see that kind of investment coming.

“I think they’re playing with fire and I can see a lot of backlash from the fans if they stay at the club.”
