JOEY Newport Beach set to open Jan. 19

The much anticipated opening of JOEY Newport Beach at Fashion Island has been set for Thursday, Jan. 19.

It’s the chain’s first Orange County spot and fourth California location, joining Downtown Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach and Woodland Hills.

The chain, which originated in Western Canada, will feature an eclectic menu so diners can find a house-made hummus next to a sushi program or their Ravioli Bianco — shrimp, crispy onions, grana padano, truffle beurre blanc and the option to add a sliced lobster tail.

“The JOEY menu has immensely evolved since we first came to California to open JOEY Woodland Hills in 2015, and it has been an exciting challenge to enhance and develop new dishes that continue to celebrate our globally inspired cuisine, while staying true to the restaurant’s roots,” said Executive Director of Culinary for the JOEY Restaurant Group Matthew Stowe in a statement.

A limited-edition JOEY spirit as well as a rare and reserve list, exclusive to the Newport Beach location, curated by the JOEY group Sommelier Jason Yamasaki will be part of the location’s debut next week.

The 1,992 square foot space will include the interior dining area, lounge and outdoor patio. Sections of the roof will be retractable to allow coverage during the day, but a view of the night sky in the evening. The lounge, where diners can grab a drink while waiting for their tables, will have a large fit-pit as well as extensive landscaping and live trees. A gallery wall inside the restaurant will feature art from local artists.

JOEY will replace upscale Hawaiian and Japanese fusion restaurant, Roy’s.

Reservations for dining will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 6. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Monday-Sunday.
