Our world is facing some of the most critical challenges of all time. While the past decade ushered in dramatic technological acceleration, the last 18 months have kicked off a tectonic societal shift in how we live, work, and connect. Generating sustainable and strategic solutions to these challenges—from both communal action and heroic innovation—requires us to rewire the public discourse and even how we think. Welcome to the first RE:WIRED.

Today we’re announcing a slate of new speakers and sessions for the event, which takes place November 9 and 10. It’s a series of virtual conversations between technologists and leaders in science, cybersecurity, art, and entertainment who are thinking hard about the consequences of technology on society, economics, sustainability, and our future.

“At WIRED, we tell the stories of the people working on the world’s biggest challenges,” says WIRED’s global editorial director, Gideon Lichfield. “I look forward to hearing from each one of our speakers at RE:WIRED because whether their work ends in success or failure, or is still in progress, we can learn a huge amount by discussing the tough issues with the planet’s most determined problem solvers.”

RE:WIRED speakers include:

  • Archewell cofounder Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex; Stanford Internet Observatory technical research manager Renée DiResta; and Aspen Commission on Information Disorder co-chair and Color Of Change president Rashad Robinson in conversation with WIRED editor at large Steven Levy.
  • Anna Wintour in conversation with legendary designer Jony Ive on designing for the future we want to inhabit.
  • Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel and founding director of the BU Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy and Research Nahid Bhadelia on the mRNA evolution.
  • Digital artist Mike Winkelmann, aka Beeple, on how technology is changing our notion of what art is.
  • Independent scholar Timnit Gebru on speaking truth to biased algorithms.
  • Science fiction author Neal Stephenson on world-building—and world-fixing.
  • Director of the US government’s civilian cyber defense agency, Jen Easterly, on the scourge of ransomware.
  • Actor John Cho and Cowboy Bebop showrunner André Nemec on the journey from anime to live-action work.
  • Sinovation Ventures CEO Kai-fu Lee and Yohana founder and CEO Yoky Matsuoka on what the future of AI should look like.

Registration for the event is free and available here. Registered attendees will have access to live RE:WIRED content and will be able to submit speaker questions.

We hope you can join us!
