This post contains discussion of domestic violence and assault.

Jonathan Majors was arrested on suspicion of strangulation, assault, and harassment in New York City on Saturday morning.

According to the NYPD, he was arrested after a domestic dispute in the Chelsea neighborhood that resulted in a 30-year-old woman being taken to a hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck.

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, Jonathan’s lawyer Priya Chaudhry said the actor is “completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.”

But some have already begun to distance themselves from the actor — including the US Army.

Prior to the arrest, the US Army had rolled out a “Be All You Can Be” ad campaign starring Jonathan. According to a recent statement from the organization, the ad campaign is now on pause.

“The US Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors, and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest,” Laura DeFrancisco, the public affairs chief for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, said in a statement (via the Hollywood Reporter).

“While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”
