The Italian side are enduring somewhat of an injury crisis and drew 1-1 at home to AC Milan on Saturday.
Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham appeared to win it for Roma in the 93rd minute, but the Englishman’s goal was cancelled out by a 97th-minute leveller.
The result means Roma stay fifth, once place below AC Milan, with both sides on 57 points in the battle for a top-four finish to qualify for the Champions League.
Roma have just six Serie A games left and Mourinho wishes he could turn to female centre-back Wenninger, who has just helped the women’s team win the Italian top-flight title.
Wenninger, 32, is at the club on loan from Bayern Munich and has heaps of experience, with 124 international caps for Austria.
At Bayern, Wenninger has won the Frauen-Bundesliga three times as well as the DFB-Pokal Frauen.
Speaking after Roma’s men drew 1-1 with AC Milan, Mourinho said: ‘The women’s team just won the Scudetto.
‘They have a very good centre-back who played for Bayern Munich (Wenninger), maybe she can play for us!’
Speaking more generally about the result, Mourinho added: ‘If we only talk about the performance, then I say the result is unfair on us.
‘Only we, only we, with all that we built as a team, only we can play against Milan the way we did with all the difficulties that we are in.
‘We are not a rich team, we don’t have a big squad, every time we lose a player it is a big problem and we lost several today.
‘Despite all these difficulties, to fight so hard against Milan for an achievement of finishing fourth that would be simply incredible, only we can do that.
‘I am sad, obviously, as we had three points in our hands, but I am more proud than I am sad.’
