For her second of three consecutive appearances in the SI Swimsuit Issue, Danish model Josephine Skriver made her way out West to the fields and horse farms of Sacramento, Calif., in 2021.
She was accompanied by talented photographer Anne Menke for her sophomore feature in the magazine. It was a refreshing experience for the model, who felt that “there’s a different kind of romanticized feeling you can get when you have a woman behind the lens,” she expressed at the time. “It’s women shooting for women.”
It was “such a cool vibe and atmosphere” to work with a female photographer. “Even though you’re sharing [the photos] with the whole world, something about the experience felt “more private,” Skriver noted. She found that she could connect with Menke because she understood “the ups and downs of what it’s like to be a woman,” she said.
The whole experience left the 30-year-old model feeling “so comfortable in front of the camera,” a sentiment that certainly translated in the series of playful photos that resulted from the session. Skriver embraced her adventurous side on the West Coast, and the photos were, as a result, wondrous. Here are just a few of the best ones from the unforgettable trip.
Now through Nov. 1, 100% of SI Swimsuit’s portion of proceeds from cover prints purchased here will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, which is helping to support the people and places of Maui affected by the recent wildfires.
