Josh Taylor says he is ready to give Jack Catterall a rematch and urged his rival to ‘work things out from his side’ to get the fight made.

Taylor, who became unified super-lightweight champion last summer put his IBF, WBO, WBA and WBC titles on the line in a homecoming fight in Glasgow in February.

The Scot retained his belts via a hugely controversial split decision win, with the subsequent outrage ensuring a second showdown has been in demand ever since.

Taylor has since vacated his WBA and WBC titles having failed to agree mandatory title defences against Alberto Puello and Jose Zepeda.

It leaves the path clear for Taylor vs Catterall 2, with the champion ready to make it his last fight at 140lbs before moving up in weight.

‘I’m motivated for Jack and that’s all I am thinking about,” Taylor told the Edinburgh Evening News.

‘”The only reason I am staying at 140lbs is so I can face him again. I’m pretty sure this will be the last fight at the weight and then I’ll move up, unless there is a really, really big fight that can tempt me to stay.’

He continued: ‘I’m throwing him a bone again. I don’t have to do it but I want to. I’ve done everything within my power to make it happen so it’s over to him now.

‘But if he can’t work out things from his side, then I’m not going to wait around forever.

‘So, sort your stuff out Jack and let’s get it on.

‘He’s been crying for almost five months now like a little spoiled child. And I think that is now beginning to turn folk against him with the way he’s going on.

‘He sounds like a broken record. It’s just tiring now.’
