MANILA, Philippines—After unproductive campaigns overseas, Juan Gomez de Liaño and Kemark Cariño make their return home to play key roles as teammates on their new team.
Gomez de Liaño and Cariño are expected to lead Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup, which tips off Thursday.
Joining Gomez de Liaño and Cariño at Marinerong Pilipino are former La Salle guard Jollo Go and the core of Mapua, which made the finals in NCAA Season 97.
Gomez de Liaño had short stints for Earthfriends Tokyo Z in the Japan B.League Division 2 and the BBM Viking Warriors before deciding to suit up with Marinerong Pilipino.
The former University of the Philippines standout appeared in just 17 games for Tokyo Z.
Cariño played 25 games in limited minutes for Aomori Wat’s also in the B.League Division 2.
