A very emotional Judd Trump was visibly distraught after his exit in the Scottish Open last night.
The 2019 world champions suffered defeat to world number 57 Thepchauya Un-Nooh 5-4 in a dramatic game in the quarter-final.
Judd Trump showed why was a world champion with big moments of quality through the game, with two centuries and runs of 53, 52, 61 and 86. Judd Trump had his chances to seal victory, as did his opponent Un-Nooh, but both missed their opportunities to seal victory.

It looked as through Trump would have sealed his faith in the semi-finals when he was presented with several chances in the final frame that he would have taken in his peak, but he unfortunately couldn’t shake off his opponent.
It looked as though Thepchaiya’s night was over when his attempt to play it safe backfired, as his poor shot that didn’t make perfect contact with the black and allowed Trump a re-spot.
However, Judd Trump once again missed a golden chance to claim victory, as he failed to pot the yellow, leaving Thepchaiya with the simplest of chances, and made no mistake to cause a huge upset.
While it may have been a dramatic and exciting game for snooker fans, Judd Trump was visibly upset after defeat. A couple of years ago, he would have taken those opportunities with ease. While he had moments of quality that would have reminded people of his prime, it unfortunately wasn’t enough at the end of the day, and was emotional as he reflected on his missed chances.

Speaking to Eurosport’s Michael McMullen after defeat, Trump looked absolutely shattered.
“No. It was a good chance, I’d so many chances, yeah it’s shocking.”
It may not be at the front of his mind right now, but Judd Trump showed the quality is still there. For Thepchaiya, he gained revenge after losing 10-9 to Trump in their last meeting in the 2019 World Championships.
