Jude Bellingham claims he wants to “develop at Borussia Dortmund and give something back by winning titles” amid talk of a return to England.

The midfielder left Birmingham City and headed to the Bundesliga outfit almost 18 months ago.

Bellingham enjoyed a swift rise and was in the Blues first-team by 16, which attracted the interest of several Premier League clubs.

Manchester United made moves to sign the teenage sensation, but he shunned their advances and opted for a switch to Dortmund instead.

In his debut year, alongside the likes of Jadon Sancho, he continued to go from strength to strength which has seen his stock rise further.

Sancho has returned to England with the Red Devils and Bellingham is tipped to eventually make the move back to home soil.

Currently though he appears to have no such plans despite interest from United and Liverpool, citing Dortmund as “the perfect place to learn”.

He said in a recent documentary, ‘JB22 – Dortmund’s high flyer’, via Bulinews : “I’ve never been part of a team that suits me so well.

Bellingham then added on the experience of playing in front of the club’s home fans: “It feels so good.

“There is no better club in the world when it comes to bringing out young players and developing them for the next level. I want to develop here and give something back by winning titles and games.

“Dortmund is the perfect place to learn your craft and learn about the game.”

Bellingham admits he had doubts over whether the move would materialise.

Clubs were fighting considerable financial losses due to the pandemic but Dortmund still chose to invest heavily in a player who, at the time, had only played 44 professional games.

The move has worked out perfectly though, with Bellingham’s value now well above the £25m he initially cost.

Man of the match displays in the Champions League saw the teenager earn international recognition with the Three Lions and he appeared for Gareth Southgate’s side at Euro 2020.

He said: “It gave me so much confidence. I felt like a better, smarter, stronger and technically superior player. I think I improved in all areas, also thanks to the Euros.”

Speculation suggests that United may come knocking once more, having laid down the ground work during their first attempt to sign Bellingham.

Sir Alex Ferguson met the player and his family during a tour of the training facilities.

United’s midfield options have been cited as a weakness this year and may well be bolstered in the summer.
