Julia Fox frees the bellybutton in a sheer cutout dress in Paris

Julia Fox continues to lead the charge in finding creative ways to show a little skin with fashion, this time at Paris Fashion Week in a mostly sheer black dress with a bellybutton-baring peephole. The tiny circular cutout in Fox’s dress was just large enough to display her bellybutton piercing which, to be fair, would totally have ruined the line of the dress otherwise. At this point visible nipples are so trendy as to be hardly worth mentioning, but a bellybutton cutout is new.

Fox topped the sheer dress with a leather jacket cropped just below the collarbone and low-heeled black sock booties. Wet hair, black handbag, and narrow sunglasses completed the ensemble. In Julia Fox terms, it’s a pretty pared-back look on the whole.

Fox’s all-black look was captured by photographers outside the Courrèges fall/winter show on March 1. “Confidence is funny, because nobody knows if it’s real or not,” she told Women’s Wear Daily outside the show. “Just don’t overthink it. Nobody cares as much as you do. You have to kind of let go, and it’s a little bit of a selfless act because you’re not thinking about how you’re being perceived.”
