The Junior Cricket Committee picked the squad for Junior Men’s Asia Cup tournament, which will begin on July 13 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The final of the tournament, which will be played between eight Asian nations and will be held in a 50-over format, conclude with the final on July 23.
India A are placed in Group B with Nepal, UAE A and Pakistan A while Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Oman A form Group A. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-final.
The first semi-final will be contested between Group A topper against 2nd spot holder from Group B while the second semi-final will be contested between Group B topper and 2nd spot holder from Group A on July 21.
Yash Dhull – who led India U19 side to the world cup triumph in West Indies – has been named the captain of the India A side, while left-handed Punjab batter Abhishek Sharma has been named his deputy.
Top-order batter from Tamil Nadu Sai Sudharsan – who has been scoring a truckload of runs in TNPL and played brilliant knocks for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 – has also found a spot in the side.
Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Riyan Parag and his RR teammate Dhruv Jurel have also been included in the side. Apart from Jurel, young Punjab Kings’ opener, Prabhsimran Singh is the second wicketkeeper in the squad. Singh slammed a ton in the IPL 2023 for PBKS.
Akash Singh and Rajvardhan Hangargekar – who were a part of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023, Manav Suthar, the left-arm spinner from Rajasthan, Yuvrajsinh Dodiya – the off-spin all-rounder from Saurashtra, Harshit Rana – the right-arm Delhi quick who played for KKR, and Nitish Kumar Reddy – the right-arm speedster who was picked up SRH – form the bowling core of the young Indian side.
