Jurgen Klopp gave yet another Premier League masterclass on Saturday as his Liverpool side schooled Arsenal as they romped to a 4-0 win in front of a buoyant Anfield crowd.
Mikel Arteta’s resurgent side had gone into the match unbeaten in 10 and knew that a win would have lifted them above Liverpool and into the top four.
But the Reds managed to put in a real performance and claimed the win thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and substitute Takumi Minamino – with his first touch after coming off the bench.
The win was sparked by ‘villain’ Klopp fuelling the Anfield crowd, according to one pundit, although another has fired a title warning to the Reds following the result.
And Klopp’s comments following the game appear to show how the club will approach the January transfer window.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Arsenal headlines.
Klopp ‘villain’ for Arteta bust-up
Jurgen Klopp has been branded a “villain” over his touchline bust-up with Mikel Arteta on Saturday which sparked Liverpool into life at Anfield.
The two managers clashed midway through the first half in fiery scenes as both men had to be held back by their colleagues.
Arsenal boss Arteta was incensed by Sadio Mane ‘s flailing elbow in an aerial challenge on Takehiro Tomiyasu and remonstrated with the referee that the Liverpool forward should be punished.
That angered Klopp, who immediately berated Arteta before tempers flared on the sidelines, eventually leading to each manager being booked.
But despite Arteta being told he made a “mistake” in getting involved with his adversary, it is Klopp who has been cast as the “villain” – at least in the eyes of BBC pundit Garth Crooks.

The victory against Arsenal put Liverpool briefly into second, before Man City pushed Klopp’s men back down to third after their comfortable 3-0 win against Everton at home on Sunday afternoon.
Thomas Tuchel ‘s Chelsea currently lead the pack with 29 points, with Pep Guardiola ‘s City side in second on 26 as Liverpool breathe down their necks on 25 after 12 games played.
And now ex-United defender Neville has pointed out what could hinder the Reds as the season goes on.

January transfer plans
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may have suggested how his club will treat the January transfer window following his comments on Takumi Minamino.
The Reds spent just £34million over the summer to bring in defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.
After the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, many expected Klopp to push bring in a world-class replacement for the Dutchman.
However, the Reds appeared to put the faith in fringe players Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and James Milner to step up instead.
But a recent revelation from Klopp suggests just how much business they may do in January.
