Jurgen Klopp sent a message to Manchester United and Newcastle as he celebrated Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leicester City on Monday night, believes Gary Neville.

The Reds continued their fine form of late as they won their seventh straight game in the Premier League thanks to a Curtis Jones brace and a stunning Trent Alexander-Arnold goal from distance.

The victory puts them one point behind Manchester United and Newcastle, with the Red Devils holding onto fourth place, while the Magpies are ahead on goal difference in third.

Liverpool have played a game more than the two teams ahead of them, so are still relying on those sides to slip up, but Neville says their rivals will have heard a message loud and clear with another dominant performance on Monday and with Klopp’s celebrations.

‘They’ve got a job to do. Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s little fist pump at the end is definitely something that if you’re a Newcastle player or Manchester United player you recognise that he’s coming for you and I think he’s sending them a message,’ Neville said on Sky Sports.

‘They’re going to have to make sure that they do it properly because Liverpool will win their two games.

‘I think Manchester United and Newcastle need to forget the idea that Liverpool might drop points, they’ve got to do their job or else they won’t be part of the top four.’

The first tests for the teams holding on to the Champions League places see Manchester United go to Bournemouth on Saturday before Newcastle host Leicester on Monday night.

Liverpool must keep on winning as well and they host Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.
