MANILA, Philippines—Kai Sotto will continue to pursue his NBA dream playing for a different team.

Sotto has moved on from the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s National Basketball League after two seasons.

As per the team on its website, Sotto “has agreed to an overseas offer during the NBL off-season.”

“A new opportunity for me is really good and another opportunity for me to play basketball, I’m excited,” Sotto said Sunday.

“I didn’t want to spend a lot of time not playing, I’m lucky I’ve been offered this deal,” he added.

The 20-year-old Filipino center also bid farewell to Adelaide on his Instagram just hours after the 36ers’ bowed out of playoff contention following a 117-107 loss to Melbourne United.

“I am so grateful for the two unforgettable years in the city of Adelaide! It had its ups and downs, but I’m sure 36ers community will always be part of my life and I’ll miss this place,” Sotto wrote.

“I appreciate all my brothers that I got to share the court with. Thank you Adelaide!”

Sotto, who did not say where he’s playing next, logged only two minutes in his final game for the 36ers.

He had his moments in his two-year stay in the NBL but the lack of playing time hindered him from showing what he is really capable of.

The 7-foot-3 Sotto played a total of 50 games in the NBL and averaged 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds.

“Every season here (in Adelaide) I’ve got better and I’ll just keep on going from there,” Sotto said.

Adelaide coach CJ Bruton believes Sotto will only get better as he charts a new path in his basketball career.

“It’s all about taking the next step for Kai and he will continue to grow as basketballer,” Bruton said.
