Kaizer Chiefs off the pace because of ‘bad luck’

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart puts the club’s struggles this season down to bad luck in front of goal.

Maart believes that as a team they have created chances but haven’t been lucky in front of goal.

Chiefs are currently sixth on the PSL table fully 25 points behind first-placed Sundowns.

Maart was left in awe of the Brazilians consistency.

“You can’t take away what they [Sundowns] have. They’ve been winning, and we’ve also been trying to but our luck hasn’t been there this term. But maybe it’s something that we need to work on as a team. If they run away with the league, then that’s that. There’s nothing we can do about it,” Maart said according to TIMES LIVE.

“The year didn’t start well for us. And from my own point of view, we are getting chances and everything, but we can’t score due to being unlucky.”

Not playing for awards

Maart says that losing out on a Puskas award for his long-range wonder goal ins’t something that he is losing sleep over.

“At the end of the day it’s the Almighty [who makes things for you to happen] and there are things you can’t control. You can’t be upset about things that are out of your hands. If it’s not there, it’s not there, life continues,” Maart noted.

Training day

Maart is currently tasked with getting Samkelo Zwane up to speed as a replacement for Njabulo Blom and again, he isn’t dwelling on what might have been.

“We are happy for Blom for where he is today. But, we must go on with the plan. Samkelo is there and we are helping him to adapt,” Maart added.
