Kambole hasn’t delivered on his promise since arriving at Naturena in July 2019 from Zambian side ZESCO United FC.

In 42 appearances in all competitions for Kaizer Chiefs, the 28-year-old has scored just two goals.

He was placed on the transfer list at the beginning of the season, but didn’t end up packing his bags due to contractual reasons.

Kambole duly stayed on at the club, hoping for a change in fortune, but has played for a total of five minutes in two matches this season.

Incredibly, he in that limited time he find find his way onto the scoresheet in Amakhosi’s 4-0 win over Chippa United in mid-October last year.

Sudanese giants Al-Hilal continue to be linked to signing Kambole and may be in a financial position to match his current salary, but will no doubt be concerned by his goal-scoring drought in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Kambole has the option of returning home to Zambia where he reportedly has several options, but will have to take a pay cut if he opts to go that route.

Kambole’s contract with Kaizer Chiefs runs until the end of June this year.

Lazarous Kambole’s value has dropped

According to respected football website Transfermarkt, his value has dropped to €150 000 (R2.6 million).

Thanks to the challenges that Kambole has faced at Kaizer Chiefs, he has also fallen out of favour with Chipolopolo.

He has played 15 matches for his country and scored seven goals.

Zambia did not qualify for the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
