Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw’s surgery could rule him out for the rest of the season.

United are in search of a striker in the summer transfer window with Edinson Cavani out of contract at the end of the season and Cristiano Ronaldo not getting any younger. And long-term target Harry Kane has reportedly made up his mind surrounding a possible deal to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Consultants have been hired to look at starting work on a £200milllion project to redevelop Old Trafford.

Shaw injury blow

Manchester United face a problem at left back with Luke Shaw set to miss the rest of the season.

Shaw has been the starter at Old Trafford this season following a very impressive 2020/21 campaign which culminated with a goal in the Euro 2020 final for England. Though his performances have dipped slightly, Shaw has fought off the challenge of Alex Telles and kept his place in the team until recent injury has forced him to watch from the sidelines.

And it now seems his season is over after surgery to remove screws from the leg he broke back in September 2015.

Kane’s transfer decision

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is ready to turn down a move to Manchester United and extend his career in north London.

The England captain has been a long-term target of United and seen as the perfect striker to lead the club back to glory in a post Cristiano Ronaldo world. But the arrival of Antonio Conte to Spurs and the club on the brink of UEFA Champions League football has Kane wanting to reassess his future at the end of season.

The 28-year-old was pursued by rivals Man City last summer and was denied a move to the Etihad Stadium by chairman Daniel Levy.

Old Trafford redevelopment latest

Old Trafford is set for a long-awaited redevelopment after the Manchester United owners gave the thumbs up to a £200million project.

The stadium has been left behind as rival clubs built new grounds or in the case of West Ham United, moved into a state-of-the-art ground. United owners the Glazers have now hired consultants ‘to begin work on creating a masterplan for the redevelopment of Old Trafford.’

There are also plans for “an expanded, state-of-the-art facility for the Men’s, Women’s and Academy teams,” a statement read.
