Kangana Ranaut took a giant leap with Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi by becoming a director. She is now all set to present her first film as a producer in the form of Tiku Weds Sheru. Produced under her banner of Manikarnika Films, the movie stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur in lead roles.

In a chat with Punjab Kesari, Kangana has said that she turning producer is making a lot of heads turn because she is a woman. She pointed out that male actors from the industry have been doing this since years. “Our heroes like Shah Rukh (Khan), Ajay (Devgn), Akshay (Kumar), they all are very involved as producers in the films they’re acting in. But when a woman does it, people feel it’s very new. My directors have always asked me to collaborate with them. They look forward to my opinion, because obviously I choose to work with only the people who’re collaborative.”

Tiku Weds Sheru is directed by Sai Kabir, who had directed Kangana in Revolver Rani in 2014. Kangana said that she has contributed in the film’s writing as well. “I’ve done three drafts of Tiku Weds Sheru myself. Sai has done five drafts. Even when we were collaborating on the music, I’d write three lines and he’d write three. When we went on floors, of course he’s a very equipped director since he’s done Revolver Rani in the past, but since I’ve been an actor on this film, I’d already conceptualised some scenes,” she said.

But that’s not all. Kangana said that she also helped out the debutant actress. “And since Avneet is a new actor, I thought she won’t be able to do the very emotionally layered scenes. And as a man, Sai won’t be able to guide her in the best way. So that’s when I came on set and helped her out,” added Kangana.

Tiku Weds Sheru will be releasing on June 23.
