Kansas Jayhawks fans celebrated the team’s NCAA national championship win over the North Carolina Tar Heels by storming the court at Allen Fieldhouse.
The Kansas Jayhawks fanbase waited 14 years to experience a national championship win. They were close in 2012 but ended up on the losing end to the Kentucky Wildcats. But now, they are celebrating after what was a tense game.
On Monday, the Jayhawks overcame a 16-point deficit to defeat the North Carolina Tar Heels 72-69 to win the program’s fourth national title.
As the celebrations were rolling in, the Kansas basketball Twitter account shared a photo of fans storming the court at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas fans were not only celebrating at Allen Fieldhouse. They were also partying in the streets of Lawrence.
The Jayhawks entered halftime holding a 40-25 deficit to the Tar Heels, who looked to be red hot and ready to clinch their seventh national title. But, the No. 1 seed out of the Midwest Region woke up in the second half, retook the lead and held off a comeback attempt by North Carolina to win.
David McCormack scored 15 points (7-for-15 from the field) and 10 rebounds to secure the double-double. Guard Remy Martin scored 14 points off the bench (5-for-9 from the field).
Jayhawks fans are celebrating at Allen Fieldhouse and around the world.
