Kanye West gave fans plenty to talk about on social media with today’s showing of his YZY Season 9 experience. In an event that was marred by controversy, a majority of the focus was on West’s upcoming apparel offerings, but we also saw a preview of a new 3D-printed YZY boot.
The show, which took place in Paris earlier today, was available for viewing via livestream before later being made private. The unnamed YZY boot that featured was created in collaboration with 3D-printing footwear company Zellerfeld.
Zellerfeld’s 3D-printing capabilities allow partners like YZY to diverge from traditional manufacturing processes to create new footwear in weeks instead of months. The boot, for example, was created the weekend prior to the show.
Aside from Ye, Zellerfeld has collaborated with a handful of designers and labels to create 3D-printed footwear, including Ambush’s “100S” prototype and Heron Preston’s HERON01.
