Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani trailer has been released on Tuesday and people have been only talking about its grand scale. Apart from its visually stunning frame, crackling chemistry between Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, there’s something else that grabbed our attention. And it’s the cultures that we are talking about. It was absolutely lovely to see how Karan Johar brought the two states together and showcased it beautifully.
While Ranveer’s family is shown as Punjabis, Alia’s family is Bengali. The beautiful blend of the two cultures has left us impressed. Karan tried to capture all the elements of the two cultures right from their thought process to their lingo. It was just about perfect. From the start of the trailer, Karan showed us how two families are different from one another.
Karan brings two cultures together in RARKPK
On one side, we have the Randhawas – a Punjabi family that is lavish and over the top. Whereas, on the other side, the Chatterjees – a Bengali family that is intellectual and subdued. In one of the scenes in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani trailer, Rani stated their families are different from one another. And this is one thing that is causing a problem between their union.
After the switch, Rani goes to live with Randhawas who are quite traditional. For example, in one scene we got to see how Jaya Bachchan asked her to put her ghoonghat over her head. On the other side, we see how the Chattejees talk intellectual talks when they were discussing votes. Not saying how they are stereotyping them but that’s the truth about the two cultures and that’s the beauty also.
KJo showcasing the accents in Punjabi and Bengali
Not just their behavioural traits but KJo beautifully captured the lingo of the two cultures. At the end of the trailer, we see how Rocky said ‘loandary’ instead of laundry while Rani’s mother was heard saying ‘main aata hu’ instead of ‘main aati hu’. It was too cute.
Yes, we will get to see more of that in the movie but the trailer has left us impressed. We can’t wait to see this combination that will cause comedy of errors.
Directed by Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also stars Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. The movie is scheduled to release on July 28, 2023.
