Karan Johar honoured at British Parliament in London, completes 25 years in Bollywood

Karan Johar released the teaser of his highly anticipated film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani today on 20 June. Today, the British Parliament honoured him for his invaluable contribution to the global entertainment industry, commemorating his 25th anniversary in Indian cinema this year.

Baroness Verma of Leicester hosted the private event. Lord Desai, Baroness Uddin, Rt Hon Tanmanjeet Singh Desi MP, along with British Asian trailblazers, influencers, and community leaders were present.

Karan Johar’s movies shot in the UK

Karan has a special relationship with the United Kingdom having filmed many of his productions. Films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil captured the essence of London as they were shot across the country.

In 2012, Visit Britain appointed him as a Goodwill Ambassador. It was a special campaign to attract and invite people to visit and explore the country.

His blockbuster movies Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name Is Khan set new records. Became the highest-grossing Indian film at the UK Box Office upon their respective theatrical releases.

He currently heads Dharma Productions, one of India’s top film production studios. Movies like Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, Sooryavanshi, and Baahubhali have ruled the box office.

Today, Karan unveiled the teaser of their upcoming film, Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The teaser has already garnered acclaim from netizens. The movie stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. Veteran actors like Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan are also a pivotal part of the film. Viacom18 Studios and Dharma Productions present the film, produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta. The movie will release in theatres on 28th July, 2023.
