Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has officially altered his pick for the best point guard of all-time.
Last week, Abdul-Jabbar chose his former Milwaukee Bucks teammate Oscar Robertson for the honor when asked about it by broadcaster Justin Walters.
“I don’t think you’re going to want to hear this. Oscar Robertson, the Big O,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “I only had a chance to play with him at the end of his career, but he was awesome.
“If people had seen him play in the prime of his career with the 3-point shot. Oscar had 3-point range, but he never got to play when it was incorporated into the game. People don’t understand how significant he was in how to play the game. I know Steph Curry, LeBron [James], Kobe [Bryant], Magic [Johnson] – all those guys are superior. But I’d have to go with Oscar.”
However, in a new video released on his personal Instagram account, Kareem says he was mistaken not to select his old Laker running mate Magic Johnson.
“I picked Oscar Robertson, but I should have said first of all that Magic really should get the priority. Because I played with him, we won five world championships together and he’s my best teammate ever,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “So, I can’t put anybody else in front of him. But I have to give credit to Oscar for being the complete player that he was and an example for a whole lot of players that came up behind him.”
"I was asked earlier this week, 'Who's the best point guard in the NBA?' Steph Curry was mentioned… I picked Oscar Robertson, but Magic [Johnson] should get priority."

Abdul-Jabbar also gave some credit to Curry, whom he called “the best three-point shooter in the NBA these days.”
As teammates in LA from 1979-89, Abdul-Jabbar and Johnson led the Lakers to five world championships and eight NBA Finals appearances.
