LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh started the “Big Three” era in 2010 when the All-Stars joined Miami Heat.
The Big Three trend has continued since then. The latest formed is Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker with the Phoenix Suns.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have a big three in their own right in Karl Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, and Naz Reid, all big men.
Towns, the group’s biggest star, responded to critics about whether a Big Three of all big men can win.
“f****** watch us!,” Towns said.
The Timberwolves finished last season with a 42-40 record before losing to Denver Nuggets, the eventual NBA champions, in the first round.
Towns finished behind Anthony Edwards in scoring (20.8) and second behind Gobert in rebounds (8.1).
Gobert had another double-double season in points (13.4) and rebounds (11.6), while Reid added 11.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 68 games.
