Met Gala 2023 is serving more than just looks – it’s bringing us some truly amazing news, including confirmation of both Karlie Kloss and Serena Williams’ pregnancies.
The stars joined queen RiRi in making a public pregnancy announcement at a star-studded event. It wasn’t the Super Bowl halftime stage, admittedly, but announcing your baby to the world on the Met Steps is pretty damn cool.
Serena was delighted to confirm the “new addition” to her family with husband Alexis Ohanian, adding: “There’s three of us here.” They already have a five-year-old daughter together named Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
She described feeling relieved at being able to announce her happy news: “I’m feeling good now. I can breathe. I can stop hiding.”
Serena wore a black Gucci gown with a structured design not unlike a classic Chanel tweed suit, accessorised with pearls, a nod to the night’s honouree Karl Lagerfeld no doubt.
Karlie Kloss sported a rather far-along bump within her Met Gala look, as well as long Loewe gown that elegantly uncovered her big surprise.
“I don’t know how to style a belly,” she joked, largely because she was pregnant last during the pandemic lockdown, so pregnancy style was rather different back then. She didn’t shy away from the “vulnerable” feelings of making a reveal in this way, but also the “special” nature of announcing her pregnancy to the world via such a glamorous and renowned event.
Karlie already has one child with husband Joshua Kushner, Levi, who they welcomed in 2021, so this will be their second child together.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “This is the most important night in fashion, and I’m honestly surprised I could keep it a secret this long!”
Congratulations to both Serena and Karlie – both adding to the positive Met Gala 2023 vibes.
