Prince William and Kate Middleton married in April 2011 and together they have three children; Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six and Prince Louis, three. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appear almost weekly at events, sometimes together, sometimes solo. When they are pictured together, the royal couple rarely hold hands with one another. Express.co.uk spoke to astrologer and body language expert Inbaal Honigman about the possible reasons for this.
Earlier this week, the Cambridge’s released their annual Christmas card family photograph.
Kate and William were seen with their three children smiling for cameras, both having placed a hand on one another’s knee.
Before this, the royal couple attended Together At Christmas, a community carol service in London.
As they arrived and then talked to invitees inside the church, they never held hands.

Instead, the Duchess clasped her clutch bag and face mask while the Duke placed his hands one over the other in front of him.
Kate doesn’t have a handbag or clutch very often, and when she and William are attending an event together, they either walk with their hands by their sides and when engaged they sometimes mirror one another and place their hands one of the other in front of themselves.
Inbaal spoke about the lack of hand-holding between the couple and whether this is something that has always been part of their relationship when they are seen in public.
She said: “Examining photographs of Kate and William through the ages – Kate’s self-sufficient nature really shines out.
“Even their awkward dancing photos together, from their youth, their hands barely touch.
“A Cancerian like William would love to be more affectionate, and his reserved demeanour is likely due to upbringing, not nature.
“Their eyes usually look to the same direction, which is a sign of a fantastic union, who are determined to achieve their goals together.
“They are united in their joint mission, as a couple and as royals.”
Apparently, a lack of hand-holding between the royal couple is down to etiquette.
While it isn’t official royal protocol that couples refrain from getting too close in public, it is thought the Queen would prefer it.
Looking back at her own life in the public eye with Prince Philip, the monarch rarely held her husband’s hand.
However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are tactile with one another – but it depends on the occasion.
For example, at the polo when they were not on official duty.
