King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla are hosting the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramphosa, at today’s (November 22) State Visit, and Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales are present to support the new monarch. After a host of engagements today, the Royal Family will host the head of state at a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess opted for a striking top-to-toe purple outfit today as she met with the head of state, wearing a collared coat dress with a pleated skirt.

On her feet Kate wore a pair of suede pumps in a deep brown colour, and she donned a purple hat with ribbon detailing at the back.

Kate’s hat today is very similar to the blue one she wore to the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey earlier this year.

She also wore what appeared to be the Prince of Wales Feather Brooch for the first time in her new role as Princess of Wales.

The Royal Watcher tweeted: “The Princess of Wales is wearing the Prince of Wales Feathers Brooch today, which was one of the wedding gifts to Queen Alexandra in 1863!”

The late Princess Diana often wore the pendant as a necklace, but the now Queen Consort Camilla wore it as a brooch when her husband was Prince of Wales.

The brooch features the symbol of the Prince of Wales ostrich feathers and is surrounded by an oval of brilliant-cut diamonds and very small emeralds.

The brooch is distinguishable by its detachable cabochon emerald pendant which dangles at the bottom of the pendant.
