Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle wear same ring with key difference

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were both given gorgeous engagement rings by their husbands which they usually wear alongside a wedding band. Over the years, the Princess of Wales has been seen wearing an eternity band – the Duchess of Sussex also has an eternity band, but she rarely wears hers. In terms of design, one of the rings is made from very small diamonds and has a meagre price tag, while the other features hidden gems with lots of sentiment.

Eternity rings are a symbolic and popular way of showing appreciation and devotion to another person.

They can also be given to mark an important milestone in a relationship such as a wedding anniversary or the birth of a baby.

Kate’s eternity ring was given to her in 2013, following the birth of Prince George.

The band is made by London designer Annoushka, set with 0.23 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds.

The piece is bespoke and made from “conflict-free diamonds”, and features “birthstones for Meghan, Archie, and himself on the underside of the delicate piece”.

The birthstone for Archie is a “flawless green emerald”, while Harry is represented with a “blue sapphire” and “an olive-green peridot stone for the Duchess”.

Each birthstone is said to have its own meaning and significance; sapphires are believed to protect those close to you from harm, peridots are said to instil power in the wearer, and emeralds are considered a symbol of rebirth and love.

An unnamed source said “Meghan was touched” by the thought behind the eternity band’s design.

She then wore it during a surprise visit to the London Stadium to watch the Boston Red Sox play against the New York Yankees in June 2019.

As for how much it is said to be worth, the original ring was given a price tag of £65,000 by Maxwell Stone.

But it is said to be worth more, should Meghan have had it updated to include Lilibet’s birthstone which is a pearl.

At the time of creating Meghan’s eternity band, Prince Harry also took the opportunity to have Meghan’s engagement ring – which features two diamonds that once belonged to Princess Diana – resized and reset with a new delicate diamond band instead of solid gold.

Her engagement ring was originally designed and made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to the Royal Family.

Lorraine Schwartz, on the other hand, has created high-end pieces for several celebrities, including Beyoncé, Angelina Jolie, and Elizabeth Taylor, and is a firm fixture on red carpets around the world.

Over the years, Meghan has added several Lorraine Schwartz pieces to her jewellery box.
