Kate Moss told jurors Wednesday that her former boyfriend Johnny Depp didn’t push her down a staircase during a vacation — he came to her aid.

Earlier in the ongoing defamation trial, Amber Heard admitted to striking Depp during a March 2015 fight, but said it was because of her fears that he was going to shove her sister Whitney Henriquez down a staircase.

Heard said the battle reminded her of a rumoured incident between Depp and Moss.

“She threw herself in the line of fire,” Heard said of her sister during a 2015 fight with her ex-husband. “She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her… I don’t hesitate and wait; I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs … and I swung at him.”

It was the first time she actually hit him, she said.

“In all of my relationship to date with Johnny, I hadn’t landed a blow,” she said. “And I, for the first time, hit him — like, actually hit him. Square in the face.”

Heard previously aired the staircase allegation during her testimony at Depp’s U.K. defamation trial in 2020, according to The New York Post.

“I remembered information I had heard (that) he pushed a former girlfriend — I believe it was Kate Moss — down the stairs,” Heard testified while describing the same fight involving her sister and Depp. “I had heard this rumour from two people and it was fresh in my mind.”

But Moss, 48, denied the allegation when she appeared in a Virginia courtroom via video deposition Wednesday morning. During a vacation at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica, Moss said Depp came to her rescue after she inadvertently slipped.

“We were leaving the room and Johnny had left before I did. There had been a rainstorm and as I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back,” the former supermodel calmly said. “I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me back to my room and got me medical attention.”

Moss repudiated the rumour Depp had “pushed her down the stairs” or was violent during their relationship, which began in 1994.

“He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs,” she told jurors.

But a source close to Heard said her team isn’t bothered by the denial, telling the Toronto Sun that Moss’ testimony simply means that Depp is “1 for 2 in the abuse column.”

So Johnny Depp didn’t abuse Kate Moss. That makes him 1 for 2 in the abuse column,” they said. “But, to date, he’s 0 for 1 in the courtroom on the central issue in this case back when he lost the same exact case in England. And when the jury deliberates over the singular issue in this case — whether Amber Heard can exercise her right of Freedom of Speech — he’ll be 0 for 2, no matter how much his lawyers try to distract and divert the jury’s attention.”

Depp, 58, is suing Heard for $50 million, saying she defamed him when she claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse in a 2018 op-ed for the Washington Post. Heard, 36, has counter-sued for $100 million, arguing that Depp smeared her by calling her a liar.

After Heard brought up Moss in court earlier this month, the actor’s legal team was spotted doing a fist pump.

A source told The New York Post that Depp’s attorney, Benjamin Chew, made the gesture because Heard’s mention of Moss could help the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s defamation case.

When he took the stand in April, Depp alleged that Heard abused him, and severed the tip of his finger when she threw a vodka bottle at him during a 2015 fight.

Moss and Depp called it quits in 1997 after four years of dating, but she never accused him of abuse.

According to PEOPLE, the couple got into several heated arguments, including a 1994 incident at New York City’s Mark Hotel in which the actor was arrested for allegedly trashing his hotel room.

Moss spoke about her heartbreak at the end of their relationship in a 2012 interview with Vanity Fair.

“There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, ‘What do I do?’, he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left.”

In a 1998 chat with Hello magazine, Depp blamed the split on himself. “I let my work get in the way and I didn’t give her the attention I should have done,” he said.

Elsewhere during Wednesday’s trial, Dr. Shannon Curry, a forensic psychologist, rejected claims that Heard suffered PTSD from intimate partner violence at the hands of Depp.

After reviewing “copious notes” from prior therapists and her treating providers, “there was no evidence of PTSD,” Curry said.

The remaining witness list includes a flight attendant and Depp himself.
