Kate Moss’s daughter Lila wore her insulin pump on the Met Gala red carpet

Lila Moss, the 19-year-old daughter of supermodel Kate Moss and a rising model in her own right, just attended the 2022 Met Gala alongside her mom wearing perhaps the most important accessory of the night: an insulin monitor and pump that keeps her healthy.

The mother-daughter duo hit the 2022 Met Gala red carpet with both wearing Burberry: a dark gown for Kate and a sheer logo dress for Lila.

Lila has type 1 diabetes, meaning that her pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin, the hormone which regulates the amount of glucose in your blood. In the short – and long – term, the condition can lead to a host of problems, but with an insulin pump that monitors her blood sugar levels, Lila can keep it under control. 

Even though approximately 400,000 people in the UK live with the condition, it’s rare to see these life-saving devices in a fashion context, let alone worn visibly to one of the industry’s biggest nights. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see Lila normalising them. Specifically, The Daily Mail identified the small circle on her arm as the monitor and the pod on her thigh as the pump.
