Taylor and Serrano collide at Madison Square Garden

Katie Taylor will meet Amanda Serrano in the biggest fight in the history of women’s boxing on 30 April.

Undisputed lightweight queen Taylor will put her four world titles on the line against seven-weight world champion Serrano at Madison Square Garden.

The bout will be the first ever female headline fight at one of boxing’s most revered venues.

At 35, Taylor (20-0 6 KOs) has amassed a perfect professional boxing record having also won gold at London 2012 as an amateur.

In 2019, she unified the lightweight division after beating Delfine Persoon over 10 brutal rounds, becoming the first Irish fighter in history to become undisputed champion.

Since then, she has become a two-weight world champion having beaten Christina Linardatou for the WBO super-lightweight belt in 2019.

She went onto end any doubts over her title win over Persoon with a unanimous decision win over the Belgian a year later, rattling off four more comprehensive wins since then.

Serrano (42-1-1 30 KOs) has won world titles at seven different weights – a total only bettered by the legendary Manny Pacquiao.

Two years younger than Taylor, she will also be looking to avenge the defeat her sister Cindy suffered against the Irishwoman back in 2018.

Serrano is promoted by YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul, who has pushed for a seven-figure payday for the Puerto Rican fighter.

‘When I turned professional my goal was to be involved in huge events like this so to headline at Madison Square Garden in a fight of this magnitude is really the pinnacle of the sport,’ Taylor said.

‘It’s such an iconic venue and has been home to so many of the historic moments in boxing and I truly believe this will be another one.’
