Katrina Kaif reveals how she slapped Akshay Kumar in ‘Sooryavanshi’

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif confessed that the scene in which she slapped the ‘Bell Bottom’ actor Akshay Kumar was shot without any retake. This weekend, Katrina and Akshay will be seen talking about working together on the sets of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.’ 

‘Sooryavanshi’ stars Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar will appear on Kapil Sharma’s show for the promotion of their upcoming movie. Directed by Rohit Shetty, ‘Sooryavanshi’ features Akshay Kumar in the role of DSP. However, Katrina will portray the character of DSP’s wife. Apart from Katrina and Akshay, Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn will be seen in the film.

As per SpotboyE, Katrina will be heard talking about a special scene in which she had to slap Akshay Kumar in one go. Replying to the question asked by Kapil Sharma, Katrina said, “Nei, thappad wala scene mein koi retake nei tha. Ek hi baar kiya (No there was no retake in the scene in which I slapped him. It was done in a single shot).” 

Referring to the same scene, Akshay added, “Asli mein hua tha. Asli mein mara hai. Nei woh actually gap nazar aa jaate toh isne asli mein pail diya (It actually happened. She really hit me. The gap would have become visible so she slapped me in reality).”Kapil then asked Katrina about her romantic scenes with Akshay and if those required retakes. She said, “Nei romantic wale scenes mein bhi hum zyada retake nei karte. Akshay aur mera tuning bohot acha hai (No, we don’t do many retakes in romantic scenes either. My tuning with Akshay is really good).”

Also, Akshay Kumar shared a picture with Katrina from the sets of ‘the Kapil Sharma Show’ and wrote, “This frame aptly describes how my shooting experience with @katrinakaif is always. Had more of it today on The Kapil Sharma Show, telecasting on 7th Nov, and don’t forget to catch our film Sooryavanshi in theatres from 5th Nov.”

Earlier, Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar were seen together in the movies ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’, ‘Namaste London’, ‘Singh is King’, ‘Welcome’, ‘De Dana Dan’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan’.

According to Hindustan Times, Katrina had earlier talked about hitting Akshay while filming ‘Welcome’. “I slapped Akshay while shooting for Welcome. I was required to slap Akshay for a scene. I did that, but somehow it was not looking real and the director called for a retake, I did the shot again, but I wasn’t able to get it right. Akshay got fed up and shouted ‘Come on slap me hard’. I got carried away and landed one tight slap on his cheek, everyone just froze on the sets, and there was pin-drop silence,” she stated.

‘Sooryavanshi’ was originally set to be released in 2020, however, it got delayed due to the deadly coronavirus wave. It is the continuation of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, and will now release on November 5.
