Keanu Reeves Accidentally ‘Cut a Gentleman’s Head Open’ During John Wick Stunt Gone Wrong

As reported by PEOPLE, star Keanu Reeves recently reflected on stunt work he’d done for John Wick and revealed that he’d once accidentally “cut a gentleman’s head open.” While chatting with ComicBook.com prior to the release of the latest installment of John Wick, the Matrix star told the outlet, “In terms of accidents: I made a mistake once — I cut a gentleman’s head open. So that really f—ing sucked (excuse my language).”

Reeves went on to say, “But other than that — oh, one guy got hit by a car. He was in the car, so he had to go to the hospital, but he was okay.”

While no serious injuries occurred while shooting, Reeves noted that “You do have to take care” — “But it’s great that everyone [on set] is watching out for each other.”

The actor jokingly added, “So there’s some bruising and aches and pains, but ‘No humans were harmed in the filming of this motion picture!'”

As noted by the outlet, the John Wick movies have a reputation for being physically demanding for the cast and the film’s stunt team. While training for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum star Halle Berry broke three ribs.

Back in January, during an interview with Total Film, the Point Break star stated he’d found working on the fourth John Wick film to be more physically demanding than any of his previous work.

Reeves said, “John Wick: Chapter 4 was the hardest physical role I’ve ever had in my career so far. They really trained me up to be able to have what we call the toolbox.”

He added, “We took the car-driving to the next level, which I really enjoy. There’s 180s, forward-into-reverse 180s, reverse-into-forward 270s, drifting.… So it was really fun to get a chance to learn those skills, and to play.”

PEOPLE additionally noted that after Reeves finished filming the latest John Wick movie, the star gifted the film’s four-man stunt team (made up of Bruce Concepcion, Jeremy Marinas, Dave Camarillo, and Li Qiang) with individually personalized Rolex watches, each of which was engraved with a personal message from the Speed star.

On his Instagram story, Marinas showed off the gift along with the caption “best wrap gift ever” and shared the message on his watch, which read “The John Wick Five” and “Jeremy Thank you Keanu JW4 2021.”

Concepcion also showed off his Rolex on Instagram along with the caption, “Got that new new thank you bro KR.”
