Maruti Suzuki Cars Now Come with Advanced Electronic Stability Control – BS6 Phase II Compliant

Maruti Suzuki has made all important announcements in improving the safety and environmental standards of their cars. Yes, their models meet BS6 Phase II compliance. This update includes the addition of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a highly advanced safety feature designed to improve vehicle stability and control during challenging driving conditions.

Previously, Maruti Suzuki Alto and WagonR models were lacking ESC and Seat Belt Reminders (SBR) for all seats, which contributed to their lower safety ratings from GNCAP. However, with the addition of ESC, Maruti Suzuki cars are now possibly ESC compliant with the GNCAP protocol requirements, enhancing their commitment to providing safe and reliable vehicles to their customers. Maruti says, ‘ESC is offered across a range of products in Hatchbacks, Sedans, MPVs and SUVs.’ It doesn’t specify the range.

Drive Safe with Maruti Suzuki’s Latest Safety Upgrades

ESC works by detecting when a vehicle is losing control and then takes corrective action by automatically applying the brakes to individual wheels and reducing engine power. This helps maintain traction with the road surface and brings the vehicle back under control. ESC is highly relevant in a range of road situations, including sudden lane changes, emergency braking, or driving on wet or slippery roads.

In addition to the safety update, Maruti Suzuki’s updated Bharat Stage 6 Phase II emissions regulations announcements mean their cars are now compliant with new BS6 Phase-II Real Driving Emissions (RDE) regulations and compatible with E20 fuel as well. This compliance ensures Maruti Suzuki cars now have an enhanced On-board Diagnostics (OBD) system that constantly monitors the emission control systems of the vehicle in real-time.

Maruti Suzuki Cars: Now Even More Reliable and Environmentally Friendly

The OBD system provides notifications regarding any malfunction in the emission control systems, keeping vehicles in good working condition, and ensuring they meet the emission standards set by the government. This industry-wide norm is essential to ensuring that we take care of our environment and minimize our carbon footprint.

It is important to note that safety ratings are not solely determined by ESC but a combination of factors, including the car’s performance in various crash tests, the presence of other safety features such as airbags, and more. Maruti Suzuki cars will need to undergo crash testing again, which isn’t likely to happen anytime soon.

C V Raman, Chief Technical Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we are always finding new and innovative ways to reduce emissions from our vehicles. Be it with the Advanced Dual Jet, Dual VVT technology, Progressive Smart Hybrid or Intelligent Electric Hybrid system.

The Government of India’s drive to incorporate the new BS6 Phase II norms will go a long way in controlling emissions from vehicles over their entire lifespan. During this upgrade, Maruti Suzuki also took the opportunity to delight customers even more by equipping our cars with ESC, a leading safety feature globally. With this, Maruti Suzuki cars and SUVs are now safer than ever before and better for the environment, as well.”
