Amir Khan and Kell Brook face off for the first time

Kell Brook expects to beat up Amir Khan so badly that his rival will want nothing more to do with him.

The Sheffield star will step into the ring with his bitter rival in Manchester on February 19 for a clash that has been promised for several years.

Brook and Khan have exchanged frequently since the fight was confirmed both vowing to end the rivalry with knockout victories.

‘Special K’ has confirmed that a clause has been inserted for a second meeting but is focused on business and left the contract negotiations largely to his team.

“I leave it to my manager, my dad and to my team,” Brook said. “All I’m interested in is this fight.

“I do know that there’s going to be a rematch if Amir Khan wants that. If Amir Khan wants another beatdown he can have one.”

Brook later added to Sky Sports News : “I believe there is a rematch clause and I’m not sure that he’ll want to take that rematch clause or not with what I want to do to him in this fight.”

The pair have been in and out of negotiations for several years but have finally settled issues such as weight and purses.

Terence Crawford defeated Brook with a quick-fire KO in his previous outing in the ring which took place back in December 2020.

Meanwhile Khan has been out of the ring for over two years since his victory over Billy Dib in 2019 and is currently training in cold-weather conditions in Colorado.

Khan responded to Brook’s claim regarding the rematch clause and has admitted it was a joint decision made if the fight turns out to be a classic encounter.

“I think the beating that Kell’s going to take, I don’t think he’ll want to have a rematch to be honest with you,” Khan said.

“Look, it is there. As both fighters, we looked at this fight and thought if it’s such a good fight, the last thing we want is having issues with doing a rematch, so why not put it in there?

“That way, we know exactly there will be a rematch as well if it’s such a good fight and such a competitive and close fight. The way that I look at it is that I don’t think it will be. I think it will be a one-sided fight where I don’t think there will be the need for a rematch.”

Brook and Khan have agreed to meet at a catchweight of 149lbs with a six-figure financial penalty in place for every pound either fighter misses the limit.

The pair have fought regularly at 147lbs but have both admitted their own separate struggles in making the agreed weight particularly Brook who is considered at his best fighting at super-welterweight.
