As one of the top free agents in the NBA this offseason, James Harden has a decision to make.
Most initial reports expect him to choose between returning to the Philadelphia 76ers or Houston Rockets, but a third team has recently emerged as a contender to land the former MVP.
That team is the Phoenix Suns, who are set to undergo a massive shakeup of their roster after deciding to waive Chris Paul and likely trading DeAndre Ayton.
On paper, Harden to Phoenix makes a lot of sense. He excelled as a facilitator in Philadelphia, allowing Joel Embiid to shoulder the load when it came to scoring. On the Suns, Harden would be able to do the same thing with both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
Despite all the positives that could come out of Harden deciding to go to Phoenix, ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins isn’t sold on the idea.
.@kendrickperkins on if James Harden would make the Suns a title favorite:
"If I'm the Suns, I don't even entertain bringing James Harden in on this roster with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. … You can't trust him. … He always wants things his way." pic.twitter.com/9nVD4hVGJM

“If I’m the Suns, I don’t even entertain bringing James Harden in on this roster with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant,” Perkins said on Friday’s episode of First Take.
“There’s two things that bother me about James Harden. Number one, you can’t trust him. You don’t ever know what he’s thinking, how he feels,” Perkins said.
He also mentioned how poorly Harden played in the game that ended the 76ers’ season in the playoffs this year.
Harden is certainly a polarizing figure, but he’s also one of the most talented players in the league. Expect the Suns – and other teams – to consider bringing him in this offseason.
