Kentucky had its four game winning streak snapped at home against an elite Kansas team, but can get back on track against a floundering Ole Miss team that has dropped nine of 10 games and is 1-7 in SEC play.
The Wildcats have gotten back on track from their early season swoons and have the opportunity to build another winning streak with their upcoming schedule, but can they go on the road and take care of business against a team that is in a free fall?
Here are the odds for Tuesday’s matchup:
Kentucky vs. Ole Miss odds, spread and total
Kentucky vs. Ole Miss prediction and pick
Both offenses are struggling in conference play, each outside the top 200 in effective field goal percentage and Ole Miss is particularly poor, 337th in the country.
Kentucky’s primary offense comes on its ability to generate second chance buckets, fifth in the country in offense rebounding rate, but Ole Miss has been an above average defensive rebounding unit. If they can limit the Wildcats to one shot, and force the team off the 3-point line, then this game can become more of a rock fight and suited to the Rebels style.
On the other side, Ole Miss has one of the worst offenses in the SEC, turning the ball over on 20% of their possessions and shooting below 30% from the 3-point line. While Kentucky doesn’t generate turnovers that much, it is the best defensive rebounding team in league play, meaning it will be a one shot possession most of the time for Ole Miss.
The Rebels offense is in shambles, they broke 70 points in three of eight SEC games and I see this game being full of misses and sloppy play.
I’ll grab the under as Kentucky’s offense may be a bit limited against the Rebels’ defense.
