Pep Guardiola’s men were crowned champions of Europe for the first time with a 1-0 win against Inter in Istanbul on Saturday night.
De Bruyne, though, lasted just 30 minutes as he tore his hamstring.
The Belgian’s been carrying the injury for the last two months and has suffered several smaller strains.
But the playmaker’s hamstring tore entirely on Saturday night, leaving the Belgian emotional as he left the field.
‘I’ve been struggling for two months but it was all small ruptures,’ said De Bruyne.
‘Today the hamstring just snapped. I give everything and people in the club know that. I feel proud… It’s a shame it went the way it did but we won Champions League so it’s not too bad.’
However, the Telegraph report that the severity of De Bruyne’s hamstring tear means he could be out for three months.
That would mean De Bruyne would miss the start of next season, as well as the entire pre-season.
